Social media is used as some users’ primary source of news or first exposure to news. When people see something on social media, they tend to believe it based on the amount of likes it receives. People have caught on how some of these stories are made up and considered “fake news”. Survey findings by Research Center have shown that “51 named the inaccurate news as “very big problems” on social media”. The misuse of social media has created misleading stories made up political groups and fake accounts to manipulate people. The social media companies detect these accounts, such as Instagram, but there is some that have an ability to gain people’s trust through likes. The social media attract certain genders for example “the likes of Reddit lean heavily to male readers, while Facebook leans female”. These gender attraction of certain flatforms provide evidence of where people get their news from.
