Social Media Vs Covid-19

In the year 2020 we have had a lot of chaos coming from all directions in the media. With everyone running around trying to find reliable information relevant to our current situation, some conspiracies have been circulating. Social media platforms make it very easy for people to form conspiracies with the ideas they have adopted from other online users. The more people who see the theories the more shares the posts get. The coronavirus has been no exception to the misinformed theories produced by social media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. According to the article, warning labels have been put “on about 90 million pieces of Covid-19 related misinformation globally, which prevented people viewing the original content 95% of the time.” False headlines are our main enemy in a very technologically oriented society. Slowly officials are cracking down on the information that does not benefit the public.
