South Africa in Lockdown

The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, recently extended the country's lockdown through the end of April. The announcement, made on Thursday, was in direct response to South Africa having the most cases out of any African country. When South Africa first went into lockdown and restricted travel, other nations followed suite. According to an article run by Stars and Stripes, "South Africa's police and military have been maintaining the lockdown, especially in the large, poor townships and informal settlements on the outskirts of Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria and other large cities." Like most countries in the world right now, the lockdown will continue through the period of its intended duration, and be reevluated along the way.
