Fake news is very prevalent in this day and age and it can be very dangerous. A good way of stopping the spread of fake news is to understand how it starts and spreads. Edmund Andrews at the University of Stanford reported that fake news spreads similarly to a virus and that “researchers say that over time being exposed to multiple strains of fake news can wear down a person’s resistance and make them increasingly susceptible.” This means that, after a while, people stop thinking about whether the information is true or not and they end up believing it and sharing it with their peers. People that create false information are about to run into a problem soon, as Andrews says that a solution to the spread of fake news could be artificial intelligence. The article states that “AI will make it much easier to target people with fake news or deep-fake videos.”
