#RIPTwitter trended yesterday on Twitter with the announcement of paid followers for accounts wanting to participate. This announcement immediately drew comparisons to OnlyFans, which is a website used for paid fandom ranging from celebrities providing exclusive content, to sex workers trying to make their way. According to the article listed below from The Verge, super followers "could be bonus tweets, access to a community group, subscription to a newsletter, or a badge indicating your support". Twitter already allows content pretty much of all types, so this isn't really a surprising move by the Silicon Valley powerhouse.
