As everyone knows, 2020 has been probably the most surprising year of our lives. Many bad surprises prevailed, but good ones have come up as well. “The pandemic shined a light on the need for local journalism and local news outlets will benefit from new relationships residents are building with their local news providers.” Daily news had gotten boring, but became relevant again once the pandemic hit. Journalists and news anchors became not just someone on a screen, they became friends and real people who were struggling just as much as everyone else. 2020 was a lonely year for many. Watching the news and seeing anchors work from home and speak out about their experience during the pandemic was comforting. Relationships were built between anchors and viewers. The need for news and companionship was rolled into one this year.
