Surviving Visual Rhetorics

bismajli1

Most often, when people read news feeds, the last thing on their mind is about the visual rhetorics presented on the front page of news articles. People tend to pass them by, rather paying attention and observing them. In an example article from Fox News, there is a high use of visual rhetorics. There are many pop up articles, as well as links to other stories, all written by Fox News. There are also many ads that give you the option to subscribe, so you’re updated with the latest Fox News instantaneously. Also, the title is bolded and much larger than anything else on the screen in order to hook the reader’s attention. Many people think that “learning more about visual rhetorics can help us to produce documents that speak more more readily to their intended audience”. As previously stated, most people don’t notice the visual rhetorics in newspapers and magazines, and that is part of what makes them so useful.
