Teach to Identify Fake News

Writer's picture: Nibiya AbrahamNibiya Abraham

In day-to-day life there is tons of fake news that is roaming around, even people are believing it. Sometimes it is really hard to find which is the truth and which is not. In my eye sight I found an article talking about teaching students how to spot and find out the fake news. Mostly, this time we need this kind of class, because of the fake news there are a lot of issues. “The ---, finding that a high proportion of students in middle school through college do not  have the tools to evaluate the truth of online content.” It says that most of the students cannot differentiate the truth behind the sites. That is the schools should start to teach about how to catch fake news. “The aim of the Civic Online Reasoning curriculum is to get students to ask three basic questions when reading or watching online content: Who is behind that information? What is the evidence? What do other sources say?” Before they start to read an article or go to a site everyone should have these three questions on their mind. It is easy to get in a trap, but it will be hard to get out of it.
