Carla Rhodes was traveling and covering endangered animals when she came across this stork that she described as “piercing blue eyes, an elongated electric-yellow neck, a wobbly, inflatable neck pouch, long legs that moved with a stiff military gait, and spindly black hairs atop its (mostly bald) prehistoric-looking head.” She had stated she didn’t usually cover these topics but this bird and her research on it changed her life. Rhodes went on to discover more about wildlife photography which led her to an invitation from Dr. Purnima Devi Barman to visit Guwahati. The pictures she had taken deeply capture her words, and how she viewed her findings. The audience and the context the photo brings in will ultimately be rewarded seeing as the image is just as beautiful.
