Snapchat is one of the most popular social media apps used today, but it wasn't an easy path to get there. Snapchat was founded in 2011 by three men who went to Stanford University. In the first few years, Snapchat had to deal with hacking issues, which would give information out of the users on the platform. They were not considered a legit social media platform because of this. The FTC even said snapchat “will be deleted in a specific timeframe". Snapchat was never deleted, and even though these events happened, Snapchat grew into one of the largest social media platforms in the world.
