As many advantages as there are for digital and fast media, there are equal, if not more disadvantages to it. Way back when, when all news was verbal or on paper, people could be held accountable and tied directly back to it. Nowadays, since everything is digital, it's much harder to pinpoint the source of information, should it be false. Accountability, I think, is one of the few things that can keep the media in line, and stop them from telling anything besides the truth. No one wants to be penalized, after all.
