A common trend in modern journalism is a step toward a more democratic unit. Simon Galperin predicts on NeimanLab a step into a more public press for 2020. As opposed to a leaning towards special interests, journalism as taken a shift into a territory for the public. It is also becoming more unionized in the journalism industry. Galperin takes on a hard topic, saying that “power is mostly concentrated in the hands of people who benefit from white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy or flat-out agree with his ideology.” He believes in a larger change in journalism, and that in order to perfect the democratic view, we need to cut out the idea that the public good is not the most important part in journalism.
