During 2020, there was an onslaught of people promoting the idea of "fake news". Public trust in the government is plummeting like never before, and this directly impacts how we view journalism. As this politically charged year has come and gone, Journalist C.W. Anderson has two predictions for the stylization of journalism moving forward. Either it will remain liberal, stagnating with Joe Biden's inauguration, or it will continue to radicalize. He details that news reporting is ruled by political elites and that "if journalism has learned a radical lesson... it will have learned that it should always be opposed to political elites, whether Republican or Democrat, and that this oppositional stance also needs to embrace the marginalized and the historically left-out". Positing the Civil Rights Movement from last summer, the ever-growing visibility for LGBT+ individuals, and the wins for the Democratic party, journalism may continue with the momentum that it has made to focus on changes for individuals instead of elite groups.
