The Passing of Power: The Media’s Transition From Trump to Biden

ckelly397

It is no debate that President Trump had a profound effect on the way that Americans viewed the media. From his Twitter rants to press conferences, and even personal interactions with journalists, he challenged the validity of major news corporations. C.W. Anderson wonders what a Biden administration will change after Trump has left office. The war between real and fake news has been at the forefront of journalism for the last four years, and it has continued to flourish thus far in 2021. Anderson claims that Trump has ushered in a new wave of “elites” in American media, shifting from liberal individuals to conservatives. He states that “The anti-liberal tendencies of new elites expose the underlying and unexpressed liberalism of most of the political media, forcing them to choose between their values and what they see as their duty to report the positions and statements of those in positions of political power.” Now that the nation is united under a liberal president, there is no telling how journalism will adapt.
