The Power of Fonts

According to Duke University Thompson Writing Program, "visual rhetoric can help us produce documents that speak more readily to their intended audience". When looking at a newspaper article, billboard, or any form of advertisement, the big bolded letters, bright pictures or words typically draw anyone's eye.

While I was looking through archived front pages from Newseum Ed, I was able to see the different layouts of front pages. I saw front pages with bolded words to emphasize the importance to bright colored pictures blown up to catch the reader's eyes. It is important for companies to be able to grab the attention of others to begin intriguing the audience from the start. For example, bolded words on the front of a newspaper like "Impeached", when talking about Donald Trump, would catch the eye of most people and reel them in to reading the rest of the article.
