The Hubble Space Telescope has launched almost 30 years ago. It has been taking hi-res images of distant galaxies and planets to aid NASA in their exploration of the known galaxy. However, with only one repair mission, in 1993, the satellite is nearing its life expectancy. For the last 16 years, NASA has been building a new telescope to replace the aging piece of history. Names after an ex-director of NASA, the James Webb Space Telescope is a next-gen telescope designed to allow NASA to see even further, even more clearly. The telescope was supposed to launch years ago but was plagued by budget restrictions and construction errors. NASA is on track to launch the telescope soon, but the launch has been delayed by the COVID-19 outbreak. The telescope is going through its final tests and "recently, in one of these tests, the space telescope successfully extended and unfolded its entire 21 foot 4-inch (6.5 meters) primary mirror (the largest mirror of its kind that NASA has ever built)" within one of NASA's labs (Space.com). Hopefully, the telescope can launch and begin working for NASA soon, so the decades-old Hubble can finally be put to rest.
