In our current generation, more people get their news from news apps and other networks of communication. The majority of people under 30 don’t watch t.v news anymore, because their lives have become so fast-paced, it’s more efficient to get news on their own timing. There are so many apps for getting information out there, a few being google, BuzzFeed, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Goggle news gathers our recent searches and clicks to customize news and information that we might like to hear. For instance, in the month of November 2019, and my family and I were getting ready to go on a cruise at the end of the month. That whole month I was looking up everything cruise related, from what to pack, what to wear, and even the temperatures of the places we were going on that particular day. I noticed that the whole month, my whole google news feed was everything cruise related. It spanned from new launches of cruise ships to a ranking of the best cruise lines. Goggle isn’t the only one who does this, Instagram is also known to customize your feed based on what you liked, commented, searched, and even hashtags you looked at. Snapchat, on the other hand, does not customize their feed, they just present whatever is trending around the world. Most popular new platforms try to keep fake news and misinformation out therefore people can trust them more. Snapchat has made it their goal to, “protect[their] platform from fake news and misinformation. (snap inc)
One of the ways news apps and platforms attract people is the network the platform to fit their users, such as Google and their customized news. They also try to earn their user’s credibility by basing their news and posting news that is 100% real.
