The Rise of TikTok

After reading Francesco Zaffarano's article, "TikTok Without Generational Prejudice", he talks about how the next step for news companies in today's world is TikTok. TikTok is a social platform where people will post 15 second videos of dancing, lip-syncing, talent, or comedy. Zaffarano believes this can be good for news organizations to share their information to the younger audience in Generation Z. In other words, "news organizations' success on TikTok will depend on our effort to understand the audience populating that platform". Especially with how many users are on it a day, it can be a huge hit if they do it right. If they make it short and funny, that will attract just enough attention for the younger crowd to easily comprehend. Once one news outlet starts this, many will follow. Although, it is very easy to replicate a TikTok as the original content will get stolen and possibly get more views. So as fun as TikTok is, it is a competition for news outlets to see who gets the most recognition on their data.
