The Safari Life

Journalists do not only write about some of their experiences that they experienced in the area that they live. They also like to write about their experiences in other places around the world. Journalists can write about something they enjoyed somewhere else in the world that they never did before. Sophie Ibbotson wrote about her experience when she took a Safari in Botswana. At the top of her article, she has a picture of when she was on the safari. Her title "Mokoro safari in the Okavango Delta (Botswana)" is in a bigger font, and the title is in white because the title is within the photo that was taken when she was on the safari. On top of the title, there are two text boxes that say "Botswana" in the first one and "Travel Articles" in the second box. Underneath the title, Ibbotson states that "The mokoro safari is a sedate way to travel through the Okavango Delta. We paddle along at no more than walking pace. Now and then a kingfisher spots a fish and dives straight and fast as an arrow into the water. We watch as a dozen or so elephants cross in single file, trunk to tail." Underneath that statement, it shows her name as the author and when it was published. Within her article, Ibbotson uses sections to separate what each section is about. For example, one of her sections is titled "Safari from the water". Ibbotson's article is set up by giving a quick description of her experience. Then she explains the timeline of what occurred on her trip. Within her article, Ibbotson uses a lot of description and details. For example, she reflects that "In the early morning, I wake just before dawn with a knock on the proverbial door: I'm in a tented suite (a luxurious safari suite built on wooden platforms and with a four poster bed), so there's no door as such; but my human alarm clock is delivering tea, and for that I'm always grateful." Ibbotson used a lot of imagery in her article to help her audience to be able to visualize what she is explaining. Ibbotson used a couple of similes in her article. Ibbotson states that "Know and then a kingfisher spots a fish and dives straight and fast as an arrow into the water." Ibbotson used personification in her article. Ibbotson includes several images from her trips within her and added labels underneath them. For example, she had images of the hippos and the elephants. Lastly, she ends her article with a descriptive paragraph to show imagery.
