Warfare changes and has gone through many generations. The first generation is shown in the picture, and it involves rows of soldiers facing off against rows of soldiers. The second includes small group fighting in loose formations. The third generation of warfare uses speed and maneuverability to win battles.
Fourth generation of warfare involves misinformation and government manipulation to cripple enemies. Manipulation of the US government happened with the Vietnam War during the Tet Offensive. The North Vietnamese did not win the battles, but they believe they won because they "convinced enough of the domestic US population that the war was unwinnable."
