The year 2020 has been deemed a year of positive push-back for journalists, a year to show support for journalists who are being hassled. The harassment of journalists has steadily increased in recent years. It can make forms, online, offline, and sometimes even result in death. "We have rightly worked to document the awful harassment of journalists, especially women and journalists of color", says assistant professor Heidi Tworek. Supporters of journalists are finding ways to encourage and provide positive feedback to combat all of the negativity. New tools are being introduced including tweets created through AI. This is one of the many tools and practices that will be used. The objective is to end the silence, stop allowing the harassment to go unchecked, and show support and solidarity for journalists by speaking up.
