Tik Tok OR Facebook

Nowadays people seem to constantly be on their phones. Whether it's the news, social media, or streaming services these applications keep us busy. Ever since I've been in quarantine, my day consists of waking up, eating, and going on social media. The two applications I spend the majority of my time on is Tik Tik and Facebook. Just like any other major social media corporation, Facebook "determines what shows up in a user's newsfeed" (Mike) based on the content a person has previously searched in a search engine. Having these algorithms lures individuals to buy items from businesses or informs them about current events. Despite being on Facebook, Tik Tok is another social platform I spend the majority of my time on. Although videos can only be 15 seconds long, a person can learn multiple things. Things such as how to fix household items, learn food recipes, beauty hacks, and events that occurred previously or currently. Overall, even though both applications can be pretty consuming a person can learn new things that may be beneficial to them.
