On July 27, 1996, at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, a security guard named Richard Jewell spotted a strange looking bag that was dropped in a large public crowd and he quickly respond to his training a quickly evacuated the people within the area when the bomb went off. An investigation by the FBI named Jewell as one of the suspects that was on the list of possible bombers. A news reporter got a hold of the information and pressed the story. The public and press vilified Mr. Jewell and his reputation was tarnished.
