Unemployment During a Pandemic

vb

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in recent weeks, 6.6 million Americans have filed for unemployment. As health officials have ordered businesses to close in an effort to fight the virus by keeping workers and customers at home, the side effect has been a massive rise in unemployment. The rates of unemployment rose to 12 or 13%, "the worst level of joblessness the nation has seen since the Great Depression." But it doesn't seem as though it is getting better, as it looks as the rate is heading to 15%. Although the government is trying to give out these benefits, they are slow to reach the people, leaving many to have no source of income.
