Video Manipulation in Media. Videos are slightly harder than photographs to edit, when trying to sell a fake narrative or manufacture fake news, but unlike faking photographs, they are usually harder to disprove, as more effort is required, and in turn it creates something that is harder to falsify. According to once again, the Global Investigative Journalism Network, to detect false videos, “look for discrepancies: inaccurate gluing, distorted proportions or strange moments.” The article discusses how videos can be used to illustrate new events. For instance, when reporting a story, it’s very helpful to attach videos to give context to stories. But if you aren’t an honest actor, and include fake videos or videos that have different context than what your article is saying, but the audience is not familiar with the original context of the video, it is very easy to dissuade an audience without even trying to manipulate them. https://gijn.org/six-fake-news-techniques-and-simple-tools-to-vet-them/
