Visual Appeal

Alexis Kirbie

The layout of a newspaper can make a huge difference from the readers point of view. As the maker of the newspaper, you want as many people as possible to pick your paper out of the thousands of others. Both news articles, The Ledger and The Florida Times Union, are very similar in appearance. At the top of both articles, before the title of the paper, there are 2 pictures with some information related to the pictures. Under that is the title of the paper in bold and big lettering. The front pages of both talk about a very popular and important topic. In these specific issues, they talk about COVID-19. The Ledger's article is titled, "Census proceeds despite COVID-19" while the Florida Times Union's article is titled, "UF Health Begins Neighborhood Testing." Both articles also include bright colors and a couple pictures. All of these things listed help their paper in catching readers attention.
