Colin Kaepernick , previous starting quarter back for the San Francisco 49ers. Took a kneel during the National Anthem at the beginning of one of his games and the world went nuts.Colin stated, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Colin did this during the time when there was a huge amount of police brutality going around the country towards African Americans.
“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” This was his way silent protesting and bringing awareness to the world and the players around the league. Some had later joined him in kneeling. But a lot of people who did not agree with the kneeling during the National Anthem found it disrespectful to the country and to those who served the country. Meanwhile I thought to myself, wouldn't you be doing the same thing if you were in his position?
