We are surrounded by news every single day, but sometimes we don’t know that some of the news we hear is fake. “The internet has enabled a whole new way to publish, share and consume information and news with very little regulation or editorial standards.” It is known that many people tend to gather their information via social media, and it can sometimes be hard to tell if the news source is credible or not. There are many different types of fake news and sometimes it can easily be looked over and you wouldn’t know it. “The vast amount of information available online and rise in fake news highlights the need for critical thinking.” This explains that in order for us not to believe everything we read on the internet, we must ask ourselves if we are thinking critically.
