Whatsapp a Facebook-bought app used by 2 billion people globally a month, Whatsapp especially in the Hispanic community is used by everyone. I have heard from my older family members them talking about something shared with them, that is fake news and is trying to deceive them. Older people are not as aware as the younger generations of the spread of false information and usually get caught in the loop of false information. The problem with this is “Because of the encryption WhatsApp uses, the company cannot see the contents of messages sent on its platform. That prevents it from employing the same moderation strategies as Facebook or Twitter, which can take down harmful content that is flagged.”
