"Older Americans are disproportionately more likely to share fake news" Casey Newton. When it comes to social media, there's no doubt that millennials know there way around any app. We can retweet and post all day, but are we the ones spreading the majority of fake news. Outlets like Buzzfeed and TMZ have the right to post whatever they choose on their platforms, but how would they get this information across without any shares, likes, or comments. In the article linked a study showed that "11 percent users older than 65 shared a hoax, while just 3 percent 18 to 29 did." There are some clever writers that draw anyone in with a single sentence, so is it that the older Americans are being captivated by words or do the can younger generation spot a hoax from a mile away? I think the more attention to pay to where things are coming from, can determine whether or not the right information is getting out.
